Pepeto Pinto

Pepeto Pinto, born in 1984, is a professional steelpan player, arranger, composer, and instrument maker. Originally from Jamaica, Pepeto’s musical journey began in High school, when the Jamaican style steel pans were being introduced into the school programs. Pepeto also studied at the Edna Manley School of Music in Kingston, Jamaica, and later performed in the island resort hotels. To expand his musical experience, he built his very own band Versonic vibes, and performed with some of the greatest musicians in the country. His music is lively and includes a variety of genres such as Jazz, Soca, Classical, Classics, Flamenco, Gipsy, Soul, Pop, Reggae, Latin and more recently, Celtic.

Driven by his passion and philosophy for the sounds of steel, he has built and developed his own unique sound of both the steel drums and hand pan instruments over the years. In 2014, Pepeto founded the company Solos Steel Instruments and branded the name of his instruments Pinto Pans. His new creation of handpans is called S.O.L.O.S,  Sound of love on Steel. Pepeto, expanding his knowledge of the sound of steel, continues to perform and showcase his work and shares his instrument all around the world.

He is now based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and lives with his wife and 2 young daughters.
